Pharmacology:
Abiraterone is a CYP17 inhibitor, which blocks androgen production at all sources (testes, adrenal glands, and tumor tissue).
This suppression of testosterone helps slow the growth and spread of androgen-dependent prostate cancer.
Dosage & Administration:

Recommended dose: 1,000 mg once daily, taken as multiple tablets depending on strength (Quizar 17.7 mg allows flexible dosing).

Taken on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating.

Must be administered with prednisone (5 mg twice daily) to reduce the risk of corticosteroid-related side effects.
