Indications:

Prostaxen (Enzalutamide) is indicated for the treatment of:

• Metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC)

• Non-metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (nmCRPC)

• Metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer (mCSPC)

It is used in combination with androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) or as monotherapy in certain advanced cases.

Pharmacology:

Enzalutamide is an androgen receptor inhibitor. It works by:

• Blocking androgen receptor signaling pathways.

• Preventing androgens (like testosterone) from binding and stimulating prostate cancer cell growth.
  This results in slowed disease progression and improved survival in prostate cancer patients.

Dosage & Administration:

• Recommended dose: 160 mg once daily (usually 4 × 40 mg capsules or equivalent in 60 mg dosing).

• Can be taken with or without food.

• Dose adjustments may be required in liver impairment or with strong enzyme inducers.

Drug Interactions:

• Enzalutamide is a CYP3A4 inducer, and may reduce the efficacy of other medications.

• Avoid use with sensitive CYP substrates or strong CYP inducers.

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to Enzalutamide or capsule components.

• Not indicated for use in women or pediatric patients.

Side Effects:

• Common: Fatigue, hot flashes, hypertension, back pain.

• Serious: Seizures (rare), falls, cardiovascular events.

Pregnancy & Lactation:
