Description:
Ferintus® is an intravenous iron replacement therapy used for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia (IDA), particularly when oral iron is ineffective, poorly tolerated, or when there is a clinical need for rapid iron repletion.
Each vial (10 ml) contains Ferric Carboxymaltose INN equivalent to 500 mg elemental iron, provided in a sterile and pyrogen-free formulation. The product comes with necessary administration accessories including normal saline, infusion set, alcohol pad, and syringe.
Indications:

Iron deficiency anemia in adults with chronic kidney disease

IDA in patients with inflammatory bowel disease, postpartum anemia, heart failure, or those undergoing major surgery

Patients who cannot tolerate oral iron or in whom oral iron is ineffective
Pharmacology:
Ferric carboxymaltose is a stable iron complex that allows controlled delivery of iron to the reticuloendothelial system. It enables rapid repletion of iron stores with fewer gastrointestinal side effects compared to oral iron.
Dosage & Administration:

Administered via slow IV injection or infusion

A single dose may range from 500 mg to 1,000 mg depending on the patient’s iron requirement

Must be diluted with normal saline if given as an infusion
Note: Use only freshly prepared solution. Do not freeze.
Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to ferric carboxymaltose

Anemia not caused by iron deficiency

Iron overload or disturbances in iron utilization
Precautions & Warnings:

Monitor for allergic reactions during and after administration

Use caution in patients with liver disorders

Avoid use in first trimester of pregnancy unless clearly necessary
