Indications:
Elopag 50 mg is indicated for the treatment of:

Chronic Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP) in adult and pediatric patients who have had an insufficient response to corticosteroids, immunoglobulins, or splenectomy.

Thrombocytopenia in patients with chronic Hepatitis C to allow initiation and maintenance of interferon-based therapy.
-
Severe Aplastic Anemia (SAA) in patients who are refractory to other treatments.
Pharmacology:
Eltrombopag is a thrombopoietin receptor agonist. It binds to and activates the thrombopoietin receptor (TPO-R), leading to the proliferation and differentiation of megakaryocytes from bone marrow progenitor cells. This ultimately increases platelet production.
Dosage & Administration:

The starting dose and regimen should be based on the specific condition being treated, age, liver function, and platelet count.

Tablets should be taken on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating, particularly avoiding dairy and calcium-rich foods which may interfere with absorption.
Interaction:

Eltrombopag can interact with polyvalent cation-containing products (antacids, supplements with calcium, magnesium, aluminum).

Close monitoring is needed when used with hepatotoxic drugs or in patients with liver disorders.
