Indications
Acnev Cream may be used for:
- Infected acne lesions
- Impetigo
- Infected eczema or dermatitis
- Folliculitis
- Infected cuts, wounds, and abrasions
- Other localized bacterial skin infections as directed by a physician
Pharmacology
Fusidic acid is a steroidal antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, preventing the growth and multiplication of susceptible bacteria. It is especially effective against many Gram-positive organisms, including Staphylococcus aureus.
Dosage & Administration
- Clean and dry the affected area before application.
- Apply a thin layer of Acnev Cream to the affected skin 2–3 times daily or as prescribed by a healthcare professional.
- Continue treatment for the full prescribed duration, even if symptoms improve earlier.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity or allergy to fusidic acid or any component of the formulation.
Side Effects
Most patients tolerate the cream well. Possible side effects include:
- Mild burning or stinging sensation
- Itching
- Redness
- Skin irritation
- Rash (rare)
Precautions & Warnings
- For external use only.
- Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and other mucous membranes.
- Do not use on large skin areas for prolonged periods without medical advice.
- If severe irritation or allergic reactions occur, discontinue use and consult a physician.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Topical fusidic acid is generally considered to have low systemic absorption. However, pregnant or breastfeeding women should use it only under medical supervision.
Drug Interactions
Significant interactions are unlikely due to minimal systemic absorption when used topically.
